The Process

Three steps.
That's really it.

We built this to be as simple as possible, because the last thing you need right now is more complexity.

1

Complete your intake

Answer our guided questionnaire at your own pace, from your phone, your couch, wherever you're most comfortable. Takes about 20 minutes. We ask everything so you don't have to figure out what the court needs.

~20 minutes
2

We prepare your documents

Attorney Alikhan reviews your answers and generates every required court document, the Joint Petition, proposed Decree, any financial disclosures, and a parenting plan if you have children. Attorney-reviewed. Court-ready.

1 to 2 business days
3

Sign, notarize & file

You receive your documents with clear instructions. Sign them, get them notarized (we do not provide notarization ourselves, but we recommend trusted online notarization services you can use from home, paid directly to the notary, usually about $25 to $40 per person), and they're filed with Clark County District Court. Then you wait for your decree, and move forward.

Common Questions

You probably have these questions.

How is DivorceEase different from LegalZoom or an online form service?
A real Nevada-licensed attorney, Husna Alikhan, reviews every document before it reaches you. Form services generate documents from templates with no professional oversight. We combine the convenience of an online process with the protection of having an actual attorney responsible for your filing.
What exactly is a "summary decree" and is it the right path for me?
A Joint Petition for Summary Decree of Divorce (NRS 125.181) is Nevada's streamlined path for couples who agree on everything, property, debts, and children (if any). It skips litigation entirely. If both spouses are on board, this is almost always the fastest, cheapest, and least painful option.
Do I need to go to the courthouse? Will I see a judge?
In most summary divorce cases in Clark County, neither spouse normally appears before a judge. The court reviews the documents and issues the decree. You will need your signatures notarized; we do not provide notarization ourselves, but we recommend trusted online notarization services you can use from home. You pay the notary directly, usually about $25 to $40 per person. No commute, no courthouse waiting rooms.
How long does the whole process take?
From the day you file, Clark County typically processes uncontested divorces within 3 to 6 weeks. Document preparation (our part) takes 1 to 2 business days after you complete intake. The court processing timeline is set by the court, not us, but we do everything possible to make sure your documents are court-ready the first time, avoiding delays from rejected filings.
What if we have children or property to divide?
As long as you and your spouse have already agreed on custody, support, and how to divide assets and debts, we can handle it. We prepare the parenting plan and financial disclosure documents as part of your package. What we can't help with is reaching that agreement, if you're still negotiating, you may need mediation first.
Is the flat fee really all I pay?
The flat attorney fee is $995 for cases with no minor children. Cases with minor children are quoted individually by Attorney Alikhan, starting at $1,695, reflecting the additional custody and support work; she reviews your case and sends your quote before any payment is due. The fee covers everything we do: document preparation, attorney review, and secure client portal access. The Clark County court filing fee (approximately $350, set by the court) is collected with your payment, and we pay the court on your behalf when we file. The only other cost is online notarization, which you pay directly to the notary (usually about $25 to $40 per person). There are no hidden charges, no hourly billing, and no surprises from us.
What if my spouse and I stop agreeing, or my spouse won't sign?
A joint summary divorce only works while both spouses agree and both are willing to sign. We represent the petitioner (the spouse who retains us); the other spouse takes part as a self-represented party and signs on their own behalf. If you stop agreeing, or one spouse will not sign, the matter is no longer uncontested and this service is not the right fit. In that case we would stop work and refund any fee not yet earned, and you would need separate counsel or mediation to resolve the disagreement.
What if I'm not sure I qualify?
Take the 30-second eligibility check at the top of the page. To qualify, both spouses must agree on all terms, at least one of you must have lived in Nevada for six weeks, and you must have already settled property, debts, and any custody and support. If you are not sure, or your situation is more complicated, email us at info@alikhanlaw.com and we will help you find the right path before you pay anything.
What if my spouse is in another city or state?
This is completely fine and very common. As long as one of you meets Nevada's 6-week residency requirement, we can proceed. Documents can be signed and notarized online through a service we can recommend. Your spouse doesn't need to be in Nevada, or even in the same country, for a joint petition to work.
